Envelope sent to Riga in the hand of Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka, wife of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, written when the couple was trapped in Paris during the Second World War. [On the eve of 19 Kislev], November 30, 1939.
[1] envelope, 11×14 cm. Postmark dated November 30, 1939. Handwritten text on the front and back. With a copy of the original letter.
Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka Schneersohn (1901-1988) was the wife of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneersohn of Lubavtich, and the daughter of the previous Rebbe, Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn. During the Second World War, the couple lived in France and the Admor HaRayatz tried very hard to rescue them, until they finally received American visas. This letter was sent on the eve of the 19th of Kislev, when they were trapped in France waiting for visas.
The Rebbetzin was very wise, very modest, and helped her husband, the Rebbe, in many ways. Letters in her hand are very rare.
The envelope separated into two pieces. Fine condition.
