Letter from the sacred Admo”r Rabbi Shmuel Borenstein, author of Shem MiShmuel of Sochachov, son of the Avnei Nezer . Sochachov, 1896. Entirely in his script. Letters from him are exceptionally rare. To the best of our examination, a complete letter in his hand has never been seen, certainly not from such an early period.
This letter is from the gaon hageonim of Poland and one of its leading Admo”rim, and it deals with matters related to … business! As is known, the Admo”rim of Poland, led by the Admo”rim of Gur, would traditionally be occupied with business before they were appointed Admo”rim.
When this letter was being written, his father, the Avnei Nezer, led the community, and aside from his son’s involvement in his studies, he was also involved in making a livelihood. At the end of the letter is the Admo”r’s unique signature.
