Jozef Israëls (1824-1911) was a Dutch Jewish artist, one of the important Dutch painters at the end of the 19th century. He greatly influenced the world of European painting, and was appreciated by Vincent Van Gogh. He painted many Jewish subjects, and his paintings The Jews are among the most important Jewish creations of his period.
