HaDerech. Includes “Derech Tzaddikim”, the farewell speech of Rabbi Mordechai Rokeach of Bilgoray, and “Derech Kedoshim”, Torah thoughts from Admor Ahron of Belz, by Rabbi Menachem Ahron Lubavitch, Tiferet Bachurim publishing. Budapest, [1944].
[2], 28 pages. 20 cm. Jacket title page in Hebrew and Hungarian.
On the title page: Booklet 1 – though no others were printed. The first section features the historic sermon of Rabbi Mordechai Rokeach of Bilgoray; the farewell speech he gave when he and his brother, the Admor of Belz, left Budapest to escape the Holocaust. The sermon discusses a few perspectives on the Holocaust and ends with a farewell and blessing from the Admor to the Jews of the city: “Security and peace should rest on the residents of this country”. Unfortunately, this blessing was not fulfilled. The sermon was delivered in the month of Tevet, 1944 and printed in Shevat. Two editions were printed in Shevat – ten days apart, on the 13th and 23rd of Shevat. A second edition was printed in Adar. This is the first edition, printed on the 23rd of Shevat, 1944 – with a few changes and omissions from the original sermon. Many researchers have studied this phenomenon. One of the last items printed in Eastern Europe before the inferno reached Hungary later in 1944. Rare booklet of historic importance.
Tear to the jacket title page. Stains on the jacket. Very fine condition.
