Letter on the subject of Shemittah in the handwriting and with the signature of Rabbi Yaakov Yisrael Kanievsky, 1958. The letter is addressed to the Av Beit Din of Kibbutz Chafetz Chaim.
The letter deals with roots growing during the shemittah year, which, in other years, are not regularly cared for, whether work can be done on them during shemittah. The gaon writes that both sides can be reasoned, and adds: ‘We think that, G-d willing, after Pesach B”N, we will learn Shviit and all that relates to it. If I find something clear regarding this, I will write, B”N. In the margins of the letter, the gaon adds [his brother-in-law]’s the Chazon Ish’s words in his novellae on tractate Shviit which deal with this matter.
