Miniature pocket prayer book for weekdays and Shabbat, as per the Ashkenazic customs. 17-18th century. 38 leaves. Parchment. 7×9 cm. Print Ashkenazic writing with vocalization. Incomplete – missing pages from the middle of the Shabbat Shemona Esrei prayer. These types of prayer books were generally ordered from expert scribes by wealthy people for their personal use or as a gift for the community rabbi. Parchment binding (original?) from the era with designs and leather clasps for locking the book. The binding has worming holes and is detached from the book. The lining of the binding is reinforced with a leaf from a Latin manuscript. The text is faded, but generally legible. Fine condition.
