Historic discovery! Letter from Rabbi Nissim Yehudah Danon, Chacham Bashi of Jerusalem during the beginning of the British Mandate period. Letter in English “To Whom It May Concern, ” in which he declares that the Edah Chareidit is run in a proper manner. Written for the leaders of the British Mandate, in order to formally authorize the institution. Jerusalem, 1920.
In his letter, the Chacham Bashi declares that the Va’ad HaIr was elected in organized elections on 13 Adar 1920, carried out per the regulations. The body is run by Rabbis Diskin and Sonnenfeld, and it has a court that administers and guides the members of the community.
