“Do not question our rabbis” – poster regarding a dispute about the Rebbe the Rayya”tz’s visit to Jerusalem. Rare poster. The copy in the National Library is blemished. This copy is in very fine condition. [Jerusalem], Aviv Press, 1929.
Poster signed by ‘Chassidei Chaba”d’ who judge favorably, ‘ announcing that during the Admo”r’s visit to Jerusalem, he will also visit “said individual” (Chief Rabbi Kook) with the caveat that this visit will only be conducted on behalf of Russian Jewry, and the Admo”r should be judged favorably. This poster states that the Admo”r wrote Agudat Yisrael in Jerusalem on the topic.
The Rayya”tz’s trip to the Land of Israel took place after the Rebbe was exiled to Latvia and was unable to ascend to his ancestors’ grave sites. As such, the Rebbe decided to visit the Land of Israel with the intention of visiting sacred sites there and to strengthen the Jewish settlement there. The visit is described in detail by a relative of the Rebbe’s as well as by the Chassidic researcher Rabbi David Ze’ev Rotenberg.
Rabbi Kook was connected to Chaba”d Chassidism through his mother, Perl Zlata, who was a daughter of Rabbi Raphael, a huge talmid chacham and a disciple in the Volozhin yeshivah who found his way to Chaba”d Chassidism and was devoted to the Admo”r, the Tzemach Tzeddek.
