“The times are most severe; general crisis prevails. May Hashem quickly show mercy on me and on the entire Jewish people”
Handwritten and signed letter with a request from Rabbi Shalom Rokeach, av beit din of Lubachov, known as “HaAdmo”r HaPolani.” Sent to the heads of the Ezrat Torah society in New York. Lubachov, Tuesday of the week Tazria-Metzora was read, 1939. Very rare.
In his letter, the sacred rebbe expresses his appreciation for the financial support they sent. He adds to this, pleading that they continue sending this essential support, especially at present, “The times are most severe; general crisis prevails. May Hashem quickly show mercy on me and on the entire Jewish people.” It was only about two months later, in Elul of 1939, that the Nazis swept in and conquered Poland. Two years after that, the rebbe was martyred at the head of his congregation, may their blood be avenged. At the end of the letter, the Rebbe blesses “May this merit stand by you, each and every one of you, and may you be privileged to all goodness immediately”!
