Letter written and signed by Rabbi Binyamin Yehoshua Silber regarding Agudat Yisrael’s fundamental view of the ingathering of the exiles and the State of Israel.
The letter is addressed to Rabbi Yitzchak Meir Levin [the leader of Agudat Yisrael and Knesset member on behalf of Agudat Yisrael in many governments]. The writer lists three basic points regarding the founding principles of Agudat Yisrael and its relationship with the State of Israel and the ingathering of the exiles. A. All the ultra-orthodox dispersed in the four corners of the world should move to Eretz Yisrael and fulfill the commandment of settling Eretz Yisrael. B. There is absolutely no relationship between the State of Israel and the redemption, ingathering of the exiles or ” Itchalta d’geula.” [“It is not the start or even the start of the start”] 3. The present situation is a test and overcoming the test will draw the redemption closer.
