Letter from Rabbi Pinchas Menachem Yustman of Piltz, the brother-in-law of the Admor, the Sfat Emet of Gur and the author of Siftei Tzaddik. Paper. 10 x 16.5 cm. A strongly-worded letter about emunah. Rabbi Yustman [1849-1920] was the grandson of the Admor, the author of Chiddushei HaRim of Gur and the brother-in-law of the Sfat Emet. After the death of the Sfat Emet, some of his chassidim crowned Rebbe Pinchas Menachem as their leader. Rav Pinchas Menachem died on Shabbat around the time of the third meal. According to tradition, anyone who decided that he should be buried in Czenstochow died shortly after, therefore he wrote in his will that they should expend great effort to bury him in Piltz. His funeral was not until Monday due to a disagreement and a din Torah between the communities of Piltz and Czenstochow regarding his burial place. It was decided to bury him in Czenstochow. Aside from the sefer Siftei Tzaddik on the Torah, he also wrote a large work on Shas and a commentary on Tehillim which were not published before the Holocaust, and were lost. Fold marks. A few stains. Good-very good condition. Rare.
