Unique features: Book authored by Rabbi Natan Shapiro, Rabbi of Grodno and Torah genius and kabbalist who authored the Mevo She’arim on Sha’arei Dura. [He was the grandfather of Rabbi Natan Shapiro, author of Megale Amukot.] He was the one of the first Rabbis from Ashkenaz to reach Poland. After the author’s death, the book was published by his son, Rabbi Yitzchak. While the book was being printed, he was appointed dayan in Lublin and printing stopped. It was finished a few years later. The beginning of this copy was printed in Krakow, and the end was printed in Lublin. It seems that through leaf 150 was printed in Krakow with the rest printed in Lublin. Refer to: Mehlman Collection – Ginzei Yisrael, 690. Complete copies of this work are very rare.The pages of the book bear glosses written by a number of writers, some lengthy and in an Ashkenazi handwriting from an early period. Most are cropped, one is signed: Eliezer.
Condition: Moderate-fine. Repaired tears in the first and last leaves with blemish to text. Aging stains. Simple binding.
