Lengthy letter [approximately 25 lines] handwritten and signed by the mighty gaon Rabbi Menachem Eisenstadt, son of Rabbi Meir Eisenstadt, av beit din of Ungvar, known as Mahar”am A”sh. Sent to his son-in-law, Rabbi Yosef Fried, and his daughter, Chayah. Ungvar, 1868 [שנת “ברכו”ת”]. Hebrew with some characteristic Yiddish. Written in the two years before his passing.
In the letter, Rabbi Menachem lets them know how he and his wife “who has completely recovered, thank G-d, from her coughing disease” are faring. He informs them that his wife, the Rebbetzin, may even come to visit them. He mentions the silver goblet he sent them and expresses astonishment that he has not heard back from them about it.
