“When they saw R’ Avraham Galante from a distance of thirty amot , all the members of the group would stand up in his honor. As he approached, they would kiss his hands and say, ‘If only we would be a mat under your feet in the World-to-Come because he is truly pious and modest … May his merit stand by us and the entire Jewish people, amen.” ( Kav HaYashar )
Sefer Kol Bochim – Kabbalistic commentary on Meggilat Eichah by the G-dly Kabbalist Rabbi Avraham Galante [the building over Rashb”i’s tomb is attributed to him], printed from a manuscript that had been hidden in the Rem”a of Pano’s home and was published by Rabbi Yitzchak Gershon. Juan di Gara Press. Venice, 1589. First edition.
Kol Bochim is one of the important Kabbalistic commentaries on tractate Eichah and one of the most important works by Rabbi Avraham Galante. The sefer is cited in many Kabbalistic sefarim . The text of Meggilat Eichah is in the center of the leaves with vowelization, surrounded by three elucidations, “Biur HaRashb”i M’HaZohar, ” “Biur Rabbi Yoel ibn Shuib, ” and the elucidation by the Kabbalist Rabbi Avraham Galante.
The Chid”a writes about him in Shem HaGedolim (Letter א’): “Rabbi Avraham Galante was most sacred and expert, as written in Sefer Shabchei Ariza”l , and he was one of the leading disciples of Rabbi Moshe Cordovero. He printed a Kinat Starim and entitled it Kol Bochim , with Rabbi Avraham’s commentary on Eichah, as is known. In the entry on sefarim (ibid) he writes ” Kinat Starim is a wondrous Kabbalistic elucidation by the sacred Rabbi Avraham Galante, a disciple of the Rama”k, on Lamentations, and it has been printed several times.”
