Ledger for noting the sale of aliyot and additional honors in a large Italian synagogue in the 18th century.

On the right, the synagogue scribe wrote a list of the aliyot and kibbudim in an impressive hand. They are followed by holes with letters that symbolize donation amounts. The community trustee would mark the hole alongside the letter symbolizing the promised donation – efficiently making notations without profaning the Shabbat.
A community member’s name tops each leaf. Includes the names of prestigious Italian families, like: Fano, Sanguiniti, Finzi and more.
Old binding. Minimal creases, stains and small tears. Fine condition.
