Extraordinarily lengthy letter of rabbinic ordination [17 lines] entirely handwritten, signed and stamped by the gaon Rabbi Yosef Tzvi Dushinsky, Av Beit Din of Chust, Galanta and Jerusalem, and leader of Chareidi Jewry in the Land of Israel. Galanta, 1911.
The letter of rabbinic ordination before us was given to a beloved disciple, Rabbi Avraham Krakover Maselli – who was, as can be seen in this letter – one of his most prominent disciples. Mahari”tz Dushinsky writes wonderful descriptions of him: “Divine spirit surges through him, and he is growing ever greater” and more. Rabbi Dushinsky mentions the gaon Rabbi Moshe Greenwald, author of Arugat HaBosem in his letter, because the recipient of the ordination also studied under the latter.
The gaon Rabbi Yosef Tzvi Dushinsky [1868-1949] was one of the most renowned Rabbinic leaders of his generation. He served in the Galanta rabbinate, as well as in Chust, where he also led the yeshivah, one of the largest and most prominent in Hungary. In 1933 he ascended to the Land of Israel and was immediately appointed chief rabbi of the Edah HaChareidit in Jerusalem, and leader of Chareidi Jewry in all of the Land of Israel.
