Lengthy historic document with a line at the end in the hand of the gaon Rabbi Aharon Kotler, to Mr. Aaron Aaronson of Amsterdam. Lakewood, New Jersey, 1962.
The letter before us was written in the last year of Rabbi Aharon Kotler’s life. It discusses funding the construction of the Beth Medrash Govoha of America – Lakewood building, popularly known as the ” Lakewood Yeshiva.” The yeshivah was founded with ten students, and when this letter was written, it was already considered a ” large” yeshivah, with 100 students. The yeshivah is currently close to 10,000 students and is considered the largest yeshivah in the world.
