Interesting letter written and signed by Rabbi Michel Yehuda Lefkowitz to a young bachur named Elya’ Dov HaKohen, who studied in the Kaminetz Yeshiva headed by Rabbi Baruch Ber Lebowitz. Rabbi Michel Yehuda rights about the virtues of learning in Rabbi Baruch Ber’s yeshiva: “with the light of his Torah he enlightens and creates new light in the world and you will be from those who receive the bounty of his Torah and yirah. Dear friend you should feel the tremendous joy that you are under the shadow of this great genius and righteous person…” The same page features an additional Torah thought written at a later time in his hand, with novellae on Tractate Chulin. Letters written by Rabbi Michel Yehuda are very uncommon. Rabbi Michel Yehuda Lefkowitz [1913-2011] was the Rosh Yeshiva of Ponevezh L’Tzeirim, a member of the Moetzet Gedolei HaTorah of Degel HaTorah and leader of the Lithuanian community.
