Rabbi Moshe Stern, av”d of Polien-Riskeve, the grandson of Rabbi Binyamin Stern, the disciple of the Chatam Sofer after whom he was named, ordained as rabbi by the author of Yitev Lev. From 1890 he served as av”d of Dragomiresti and later as av”d of Polien-Riskeve for over 30 years. He died on January 21, 1923. His son-in-law was Rabbi David Shperber, author of Shu”t Afarsekta D’Anya, and in his books he mentions novellae and sayings from him, among them sayings which he received from his father who heard them from the Chatam Sofer.
