Rabbi Yoel Shurin (1871-1927) was the grandson of Rabbi Leib Saras, and was known as the “Iluy of Poltava.” He served as Ra”m in a number of yeshivot in the Volhynia region in Ukraine and was a distinguished Torah teacher. Refer to Otzar HaRabbanim 7865.
