Rabbi Avraham Elimelech Perlow of Karlin (1862-1942) was the son of Rabbi Yisrael of Karlin. He served as Admor from 1921 after his father’s death in Frankfurt, and was the most renowned of his brothers. He visited Eretz Yisrael a number of times. His last visit was in 1939, on the eve of the Holocaust, and his followers tried to stop him from returning to Europe. He refused to remain and sailed on the last ship that left Palestine. He was killed in the Holocaust with all of his progeny.
