Rabbi Chaim Hager (1862-1932) was the first Admor of Ottynia. He was the son of Rabbi Baruch Hager of Vishnitz. After his father’s death in 1892, he moved to Ottynia and established his court in the city. His older brother, the Ahavas Yisrael, took over his father’s position in Vishnitz. During the First World War, he fled to Vienna but later returned to Galicia and settled in Stanislav, near Ottynia. He prepared a number of kabbalistic and halachic works for print, but they were lost during the war. After his death, his chassidim printed the Tal Chaim on the Torah and Nimukei Chaim on the Talmud.
