Letter with a request to assist a Torah scholar. The gaon Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky writes: “details will be provided by the aforementioned, and I know that all he tells is true.”
He concludes: “Please forgive me for disturbing his honor with this … but I am obligated to do so.”
Rabbi Shmaryahu Yosef Chaim Kanievsky [b. 15 Tevet 1928] is undoubtedly considered the rabbinic leader of our times, and the majority of the Chareidi public defers to him. He completes the entire Torah every year: Each day he studies eight leaves of the Babylonian Talmud and the parallel topics in the Jerusalem Talmud. The tractates that do not exist in the Talmud Bavli (primarily from Seder Zera’im) are studied by Rav Chaim from the Talmud Yerushalmi at a greater speed, so that he can complete it together with the Talmud Bavli. He studies the Tur and Shulchan Aruch with their commentaries at a rate of approximately five leaves a day.
Entirely handwritten and signed by the gaon Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky. The name of the needy person is blurred.
