“Regards to all G-d-fearing Jews, especially the young rabbi of Pápa, shlit”a”
Very beautiful letter handwritten and signed by the gaon Rabbi Moshe Tenenbaum, av beit din of Mladá, Szepsi and author of Masa’ot Moshe . Mladá, Szepsi [Slovakia], 1922.
The letter is addressed to the renowned Chassid, “The honorable Rabbi Mordechai Yuda Hertzl shlit”a.” The av beit din of Mladá, Szepsi describes a plague called “influenza” spreading across Slovakia in his letter, “and there is almost no household that hasn’t experienced this illness … I, the writer, was also confined to bed.”
The gaon Rabbi Moshe Tenenbaum requests that the addressee mention him to “The young rebbe of Pápa shlit”a” [the VaYaged Ya’akov] that Rabbi Moshe was one of the primary disciples of his sacred father, the author of Arugot HaBosem. The av beit din of Mladá, Szepsi concludes his letter signing using his name and his mother’s name, as on a kvittel , “Moshe son of Chayah Gittel Tenenbaum.”
