Letter from the Admo”r of Lubavitch to Rabbi Yehudah Aryeh [Pollack]. Brooklyn, NY, 1956. The letter deals with principles of faith and the topic of daily renewal of the world. The Rebbe resolves the questioner’s difficulties one by one. He also encourages him to study Chata”t. For whatever reasons (the Rebbe may have sensed with Divine inspiration what would happen to the letter …), the Rebbe does not sign himself on the letter, but via his secretary, Rabbi Quint, ‘in the name of the Admo”r shlit”a.’ The letter was written per the Rebbe’s instructions and bears word corrections in the Rebbe’s hand. There is certainly nothing in the letter that contradicts any doctrine, but according to Rabbi Yehudah Aryeh, the letter’s recipient, he showed the letter to a Torah scholar opposed to Chassidism, and two words at the beginning of the letter enraged him, causing him to tear the letter. The letter has not been restored and is being sold as is. The Admo”r Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson [1902-1994] was the seventh in the dynasty of Admo”rs of Lubavitch. He served as Admo”r from 1951 until his passing. He was a tremendous genius in all realms of Torah and his net was – and still is – cast across the entire world. [1] leaf official stationery on an aerogram. 28 cm. The letter is typewritten with the addition of two words in the Rebbe’s hand and the secretary’s signature at the end in the the Rebbe’s name. Poor-moderate condition. Three tears.
