“May it be His will, that the King fulfill … all the desires of the hearts of those who receive Him… and write and seal each and every one [of them] for a good and sweet year with visible and revealed good.” Letter sent to Rabbi Alexander Sender Yudasin, one of the most prominent Chabad rabbis in the Holy Land. He was the rabbi of Jaffa’s Chassidic community for nearly half a century, a member of the Beit Din, and author of books on Talmud and Tanya. New York, 1967. In the letter, which was written at the end of Elul in anticipation of the days of mercy and selichot, the Rebbe elaborates on the essence of the month of Elul according to the Ba’al HaTanya in his famous allegory, HaMelech BeSadeh. He adds, “May it be His will, that the King, HaKadosh Baruch Hu – while still in the field – fulfill all the desires of the hearts of those who receive Him … and write and seal each and every one [of them] for a good and sweet year with visible and revealed good.” Following his signature, the Rebbe, in his great genius, provides the sources from our Sages for almost every word of the letter, which shows that each word was written with great precision [in those years there were no Torah computer programs, and the Rebbe quoted all the sources from memory]. [1] leaf, official stationery. 28×21 cm. The letter is typewritten with a signature in his hand at the bottom. Very fine condition.
