Letter from Rabbi Shimon Yehudah Shkop to Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak HaKohen Kook. [1924].
[1] stationery. 21×28 cm. All in his hand and with his signature and stamp.
Rabbi Shimon Shkop asks Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak HaKohen Kook about a young man who immigrated to Eretz Yisrael and wants to learn Torah in a yeshiva. In general, Rabbi Shimon Shkop only added his signature to his letters. However, this letter is written entirely in his hand (perhaps in honor of Rabbi Kook).
Rabbi Shimon Yehudah HaKohen Shkop (1860-1939) was a prominent Rosh Yeshiva. He was Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivat Shaar HaTorah in Grodno. He created a unique approach to classic eastern-European scholarship, which is primarily expressed in his Shaarei Yashar. It is characterized by logical-judicial analysis of the basic tenets of halachah and less pilpul.
