Interesting letter addressing the prominent rabbis, members of the Vaad HaYeshivot B’Eretz Yisrael, dated the 15th of Tevet, 1947, on behalf of the administration of the “Beit HaMedrash HaGavoha L’Talmud Beit Zvul,” requesting financial assistance to expand the study hall and its learning schedule.
The letter describes the expansion of the beit midrash with new members and increased hours of study. It details the hours of study that take place in the beit midrash, the names of those who participate and the subjects that are studied. [“The first seder starts at 9:00 in the morning, it focuses on the laws of “mitzvot hatluyot ba’aretz,” this winter we started Tractate Termuot. The second seder starts at 3:00 in the afternoon and we learn Seder Kadshim, now we are learning Tractate Menachot”]. Ends with a request for financial assistance to cover the increases expenses of the beit midrash in its new expanded format.
The letter is printed in stencil with a supplement written and signed by Rabbi Zalman Sorotzkin [Av Beit Din of Lutzk, Ukraine before the Holocaust and Rosh Moetzet Gedolei HaTorah B’Eretz Yisrael] and eight lines written and signed by Rabbi Yaakov Moshe Charlop underscoring the importance of the matter.
