Sermons on Chassidut and Kabbalah, on the Torah and on the meggilot, by Rabbi Yisrael Av Beit Din of Pikov, son of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berdichev. Printed by the author shortly after his father’s passing, who writes of himself: “Yisrael, rabbi of the Pikov community, son of the rabbi, the gaon, the holy and pure … Levi Yitzchak … of Berdichev.” The book cites matters from his great father, “My master, father and teacher, the holy gaon.”
The author, Rabbi Yisrael Av Beit Din of Pikov , was the son and successor of the Admo”r Rabbi Levi Yitzchak, Av Beit Din of Berdichev, author of Kedushat Levi . He was also a follower of Rabbi Zusha of Anipoli and Rabbi Moshe Leib of Sassov (with whom he extensively dealt in redeeming captives). In the early 1790s he was appointed Av Beit Din of Pikov. After his father’s passing in 1810, he was appointed Av Beit Din of Berdichev. His father, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak, cites novellae in his name in his book Kedushat Levi . His in-law, the Ba’al HaTanya, writes about him that he was pious and ascetic, and the maggid of Kozhnitz writes “Beloved of Hash-m … he is a G-dly person.”
