Chassidut, uncommon first edition
Sefer Machshavot Levi Part I – scholarly halachic discussions by the Admo”r Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Kuzmir, son of the Admo”r Rabbi Menachem David of Kuzmir. Warsaw, B. Leibskind Press, 1933. First edition. Extremely rare sefer . To the best of our knowledge, it has never before been offered at auction.
Handwritten dedication at the top of the title page, characteristic of authors’ dedications on their sefarim : “To my dear friend, the pious Rabbi Ya’akov Mantchik, ritual slaughterer in Poldowizna.” We have not located another manuscript by the author for comparison, so we cannot ascertain with certainty whether this is indeed his own penmanship. If it is, its historic (and financial) value is quite significant.
The sefer is adorned with an approbation by the author’s father, Rabbi Menachem David of Kuzmir, as well as an approbation with lengthy comments by the gaon Rabbi Menachem Ziemba.
Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of the Admo”r Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Taub of Kuzmir, may his blood be avenged .
