Juive d’Alger – Femme marriee – lithograph depicting a married Jewish woman in traditional clothes from Algeria by Benjamin Roubaud, published by Aubert Paris, 1840s.
The woman is clothed in a traditional cloak with a sharp, high hat called a ‘Sarma’ on her head on a background of a characteristic building in Algeria. Plate 20 in the ‘Algerian Costumes’ series (Costumes Algériens).
