There is a section at the beginning of the book called “Shomer Emunim,” apparently copied from a different book, one which preceded it by 100 years. Printed without indication of place of printing, apparently printed in Hamburg. 1715. First edition. [1] 28 leaves, 18 cm. At the beginning of the book Sha’arei Tziyun, there are important approbations for Sha’arei Tziyun as well as for Masoret HaBrit. There is a foreword by the author’s son, who brought both books to print. Rabbi David Tevele [1615-1699] was a grandson of Rabbi Yitzchak, preacher of Lvov, and disciple of Rabbi Shabtai Sheftel, son of the Shla”h and author of Vavei HaAmudim. He was exiled from Poznań to Hamburg, where he stayed with community leader (“Parnas”) Rabbi Natan ben Moshe, and he also served there as an adjudicator. He authored this book there.
