Sefer Midrash Rabbah al Chamesh Megillot with ‘Peirush Mahari”a by the Admo”r Rebbi Yitzchak Isaac of Zhidichov. Lvov, 1875. First edition.
On the title page: Peirush Mahari”a … per deep Kabbalistic secrets. It is told in the name of the Vilna Gaon that Kabbalistic books are ‘the revealed of the hidden’ – that is, it is clear that they deal with Kabbalah – and midrash is ‘the hidden of the hidden’ where secrets are dressed up in stories, but they are actually more hidden than Kabbalistic books. This is a unique Kabbalistic commentary on midrashim by the leading Kabbalist among the Admo”rim.
