The Teban family was a prominent Hungarian family many of whose members lived in Pressburg, including many prominent rabbis and community activists. As mentioned, the small town of Kittsee was next to the Pressburg community.
There were several Jewish artists in Kittsee who were considered especially talented artists, and many patrons commissioned artwork from them. Especially prominent among them was an artist by the name of Chaim ben Asher Anshel of Kittsee, who was active there in the second half of the 18th century. There are about 30 works by him known to be extant at this time, some preserved in the archives of the most prominent libraries and museums in the world. See a spectacular manuscript here , another product of his handiwork that was offered at auction in a Winner’S catalog.
