Book of Jonah written in a nice hand on thick cardboard plates. Each page bears a pasted original, black-and-white illustration, depicting the events faced by Jonah the Prophet. All illustrations were created by the artist and prepared for reproduction and the future printing of the book. The author’s penciled signature appears at the end of the book. Original, one-of-a-kind copy. Nathan Karp [1934-2008] was an Israeli graphic and calligraphy artist and student of the Bezalel School of Art. His most famous works inlcude the decorations of the Israeli police force, some designs on the shekel, the ten agurot coin, various posters for Independence Day [1983 and 1992], the design of the medal presented by Yad V’Shem to righteous gentiles, and the design of many other medals from the Israel Coins and Medals Corp. His most prominent calligraphy work was a letter from the Jewish Nation to the Danish Nation expressing their appreciation for saving their Jews during the Holocaust. The letter is now exhibited in a museum in Copenhagen. This is a monumental, original work. Binding with color illustrations – pasted. Very fine condition.
