Kabalistic novellae, spiced with allusions and gematria, written in the holy hand of Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Sklow.
[2] pages. 31 cm. Autograph.
Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Sklow was a prominent disciple of the GR”A. He had an exceptionally close relationship with his teacher and heard many Torah secrets from him. He testified, “for two years, I did not move from him…I did not leave his tent day or night, where he went I went, where he slept I slept, and my hand did not leave his at all and he opened the key of wisdom for me” (Toldot Chachmei Yerushalayim, section 3, p. 158).
Rabbi Menachem Mendel was the primary disseminator of the Torah of the GR”A and a leader in the reestablishment of the Jewish community in Jerusalem. When he immigrated to Eretz Yisrael, he led the Kollel Perushim until his death in 1827.
