Rabbi Shem Tov ibn Shafrut was a Spanish sage, thinker, philosopher and physician from Toledo. He lived and was active in the second half of the 14th century. Ibn Shafrut’s theological-philosophical thought was characterized by rationalism from the schools of Aristotle and the Ramba”m. He participated in the dispute with Cardinal Don Pedro de Luna, and authored Tzafnat Paneach and more.
Rabbi Yehoshua Binyamin Badrashi : This may be the “Rav HaKollel” Rabbi Yehoshua Badrashi, author of Arugot HaBosem , although it is not known that he was also called by the name Binyamin. The Badrashi family is a family of great lineage which includes rabbis, adjudicators, sages and community leaders. Sages from this family are known from as early as the 13th century, such as Rabbi Yadyiah HaPenini, through the 18th century, such as Rabbi Yehoshua Badrashi, author of Arugot HaBosem , his son Rabbi Chananel, his brother Chacham Rabbi Shmuel, and his relative Chacham Rabbi Moshe.
