Jewish-American artist Arthur Szyk (1894-1951) was born in Poland. In 1921, he moved to Paris where he primarily worked with political satire. In the 1930s and 40s, he integrated anti-Nazi motifs into his works. In 1936, living in Poland, he finished arranging this popular Passover haggada. The Times of London called it “one of the most beautiful books ever produced by man”. In 1940, he moved to the United States where he died at the young age of 57.
The haggadot were preserved in excellent condition.
