Personal letter on stationery of the Mauthausen concentration camp, sent on 11/8/1940.
[1] doubled leaf. 21×15 cm. One-and-a-half pages of handwritten text, stamped by the censor.
As the heading of the letter are the prisoner’s name and number (9051), bunkhouse number, birth date, and date of writing. The writer was 47 years old when he wrote this letter. The letter is flanked by instructions from the commanding officer regarding limitations on what could be written. If they were disregarded, the letter would be destroyed. Sent from the sub-camp Oberdonau, which manufactured steel parts for German tanks.
