[2] 54 leaves. Vilna, 1893. Second edition. A Haggadah with a collection of commentaries which were collected by Rabbi Yisrael Dov Miller of Grodno. On the endpaper is an ownership inscription: “This Haggadah belongs to the young man Yitzchak Isaac Weiss” with his signature underneath. Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Weiss the “Kahal Yitzchak” is the Spinka Rebbe. The Rebbe signed his name twice in this Haggadah. The first time in his youth “the young one”, and under it an inscription which he wrote years later in pencil “The small one Yitzchak Isaac Weiss”. The Spinka Rebbe [1875-1944]. Rosh Yeshiva of “Beit Yosef”, one of the leaders of Hungarian Jewry. Under his leadership, Spinka chassidut became one of the three largest Chassidic groups in Hungary together with Munkacs and Satmar. He had thousands of disciples in Maramaros, in Transylvania, and throughout Hungary. On May 23 1944, after refusing to escape to Israel, he was deported to Auschwitz together with his family and congregation, where he was murdered on June 4.
