The ga’on Rabbi Yeshayah Bassan (Born inVerona, 1673 – Died in Regio, 1739), was one of the leading halachic authorities in Italy, a poet and a mekubal, a disciple of Rabbi Yehudah Briel and הרמ”ז, the son-in-law of הרב”ך, and the mentor par excellence of Rabbi Moshe Chaim Luzzato. The Ramchal learnt the art of song and poetry from him. In honor of his teacher he dedicated his first book about this art, ‘Lashon Limudim’, to him. (Mantua, 1727).
