Magnifying glass with [stamped] silver handle, which was used by the gaon Rabbi Michel Yehuda Lefkowitz.
Nice hammered work in a floral pattern along the length of the handle. The glass comes with the original case – made of gilt-thread embroidered fabric and a lace for tying.
The gaon Rabbi Michel Yehuda Lefkowitz [1913-2011], was among the leaders of the Lithuanian (yeshiva) community, among the Chazon Ish’s greatest students, a member of Degel HaTorah’s Council of Torah Sages, and served as rosh yeshiva of Ponovezh L’Tzeirim where he lectured for approximately sixty consecutive years, teaching many thousands of students, many of whom are rabbis, rosh yeshivas and famous scholars.
