*Uncensored edition of the Radak’s long commentary on Psalms 1 – 41.
The first book of the songs of Tehillot according to the version of the biblical manuscript text “Mega” stored in Cambridge with the long commentary of Rabbi David son of Yosef son of Yitzchak ibn Kimchi [Radak] according to 19 manuscripts and old printings, published by me, Shlomo son of Meir [Schiller – Sinshi] … previously rabbi and Av Beit Din … in the city Mancunium [Manchester], Cambridge, [1883]
Partial title page: Psalms with the long commentary of our rabbi David Kimchi A. Additionally, a title page in English. Includes the psalms and the Radak’s commentary, until Psalm 41.
Radak’s commentary on the book of Psalms, written at length, and including harsh criticism of Christian commentary on the book of Psalms. This criticism was censored by most of the printers. The edition before us brings the original version, without censoring , for example, in chapter 22:34: “And the commentary of this psalm by [Christians], tells of the evils done to him by Israel … and they distorted the word “K’Ari Yadi” and said “Karo,” using the language of “as a man digs [kara] a pit,” to mean “thrust nails in his arms and legs ….” and more.
Due to the lengthy words of the explanation of the Radak on the bible, there are those who chose to learn a shortened version of his commentary, and beginning in 1661 and for many years, only the short version was printed. 130, XVII pages, paper. 16×24 cm.
