Unique Features: The book was printed through the efforts of the Maggid of Koznitz – as mentioned on the title page – and he even sent the printer glosses which he wrote on his copy of the book, as mentioned on the title page and in the Maggid of Koznitz’s approbation. Before us is the first edition of the book Raziel HaMalach, with the glosses of the Maggid of Koznitz. In his approbation the Maggid mentions that owning the book is a segulah for success, as he writes: “This book of the history of the holy and respectable person, its great level and segulah and the power of its action and its success are known to all .” Stefansky, Chassidut 536.
On the leaf before the title page is the signature of Rabbi Shimon Weiner Av Beit Din of Lovasberény [1769-1871] – the Chatam Sofer’s head disciple in Hungary and his personal assistant, he also studied under Rabbi Mordechai Bennett ( HaChatam Sofer U’Talmidav page 453, Shemesh Marpeh page 262 footnote 2).
