Rabbi Shlomo Nissim was the rabbi of various Italian communities. He authored the Aderet Eliyahu [Leghorn, 1855], a sharp polemic with Rabbi Shmuel David Luzzatto on his Vikuach al Chachmat HaKabbalah. Rabbi Shlomo Nissim seeks to maintain Jewish tradition regarding the authorship of the Zohar and the wisdom of kabbalah.
Rabbi David Yaakov Meroni (1810-1888) wrote many poems and solitary responsa that survive in manuscript.
