Rabbi Eliyahu b”r Moshe Luantz Ashkenazi (1565-1635) was known as the ‘Ba’al Shem’. He studied in the yeshiva of the Maharal of Prague and served as Rabbi if Fulda, Friedberg and Worms. He was known as a genius, righteous person who studied the Torah of kabala and wrote many amulets. He founded a group of Kabala studiers to whom he taught the primary points of his Torah methods. He authored hymns and was the rebbe of the Tosfot Yom Tov.
