“I appeal to you to help them in financial ways as well”
Sacred letter from the Admo”r Rabbi Baruch Hager of Seret Vizhnitz, author of Mekor Baruch , while he resided in Seret, Bukovina, a beloved son of the Rebbe, the author of Ahavat Yisrael of Vizhnitz. Sent to the famed rabbi of Chernowitz, the wondrous gaon Rabbi Meshulam Roth, author of Kol Mevaser , with a request to help arrange a get for a couple who has been separated for several years, each going his own way. The wife/widow lives in Seret, and the husband lives in another place in Bukovina, The wife has moved to Chernowitz, and now the time has come to arrange their get .
Rabbi Baruch Hager points out that he is ill, and bedridden by doctor’s orders. As a result, he is unable to arrange the get himself. He therefore requests the beit din in Chernowitz led by Rabbi Roth arrange the get for them.
In addition, with Rebbe’s merciful heart, he requests that the rav of Chernowitz make a compromise for the divorcing husband and the widow, the mother of the divorcing wife, whose financial situations are not good. “Please do a favor for them, in financial law as well, so that they do not have to pay very much for the get …”
At the end of his letter, Rabbi Hager writes that he received a telephone call to come to Chernowitz (apparently for a rabbinical gathering) about the Shabbat decree. As mentioned, due to his illness he cannot travel, so he asks to be updated by telephone.
