The book deals with the rules of the Talmud and adjudicative methods of our Sages, and was received as one of the foundational books in its field. It was printed aside Rabbi Shmuel HaNaggid’s foreword to the Talmud. The edition of the book before us is with Latin translation. The importance of this book can be learned from Rabbi Gedaliah ibn Yichya’s will to his son, as printed in his book, Shalshelet HaKabbalah : “Remember, my son, to study the book Halichot Olam at least twice a year, to reveal the mysteries of its rules with a very broad and beautiful elucidation. It is necessary for students, and it achieved wonders beyond those which preceded it.” The author, Rabbi Yeshua, is mentioned by Rabbi Betzalel Ashkenazi in Shitah Mekubetzet .
