The author succeeded his father as Rabbi of Frankfurt after his father’s death in 1805. The last leaves feature the Torah of Rabbi Zvi Yehoshua Horowitz, son of Rebbe Shmelke of Nikolsburg and the author’s brother-in-law. In addition to novellae from the author’s brother, Rabbi Meir Yaakov Horowitz, son-in-law of Rabbi Shaul, esteemed Rabbi of Amsterdam.
