Sensational letter written and signed by the Admor of Toldot Ahron, Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Kohn.
Specifications: [1] leaf. 14×14 cm, signed autograph. Discusses a shidduch for his son, Rabbi Moshe, today the Rosh Yeshiva of Toldot Aharon. The letter does not include the year it was written, but it was written before 1971-72, when the Rosh Yeshiva was married.
Unique features: The Admor uncharacteristically writes very openly, apparently due to his close relationship with the addressee, who he calls “my dear friend.” He writes about the daughter of a certain Admor (whose name is stated in the letter). The Rebbetzin researched the girl’s character and found out that she was “very wild.” The Admor asks the addressee to talk to the shadchan “without mentioning that I was the one who sent you,” and more.
Background: Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Kohn (1914-1996) was a prominent Admor and founder of the Toldot Ahron chassidut. After the death of his father-in-law, Admor Aharon Roth – “Rebbe Aharele,” most of the chassidim decided to crown his son-in-law as his successor. During his reign, the chassidut grew and flourished and established chassidic centers in Beit Shemesh and New York. He was a leading opponent of Zionism and was noted for his sanctity and ascetism.
Condition: Very fine.
